The BEST Consultant utilizes a Fluke Thermography IR Model TiR2FT-20 FlexCam R2 Thermal Imager with Fusion Software to measure and record thermal differences indicating moisture in roof and building envelope system components. This state of the art equipment provides imaging with permanent thermal data recording in the image along with picture in picture technology that shows thermal images within a visual photograph. This lets everyone know right where each image was taken.

You can only tell by cutting open the roof , taking apart the wall or testing in some other manner. Of the three most common tests, resistance, Nuclear Thermography, and Infrared Thermography most situations are best served by Infrared. Why? Resistance testing requires that an instrument with two probes only inches apart get stuck into the system. Normally, grid type or “problem area” testing is done and you end up with only a few data points and assumptions about what is between them. Nuclear testing requires specialized transport and handling of the equipment and the measurements are typically made at 5 to 10 foot increments in a grid pattern so that most of the area is actually not tested, just certain data points, and assumptions made about what is in between them. Only Infrared Thermography done with proper equipment provides a record of the entire system both broad and close up showing the exact areas of temperature differences. With every test method you must do further inspection to determine the exact extent of moisture penetration and system condition but with Infrared Thermography you can outline exact areas for examination and have the permanent visible data record; and, with our equipment the permanent data record showing exact physical parameters of what was measured against accepted standards.
